Shockwave therapy

What is Shockwave therapy?

Shockwave therapy, also known as extracorporeal shockwave therapy, is a modern non-invasive method used to treat painful conditions affecting muscles, tendons and joints. It uses acoustic waves that act directly on the painful area and stimulate the body's natural tissue regeneration processes.

Its main purpose is to reduce pain, improve mobility and support the recovery of damaged structures. By acting on the treated area, the therapy stimulates circulation, activates metabolic processes in the tissue and promotes cellular repair.

Shockwave therapy is often used for chronic painful conditions that persist for a long time or do not respond sufficiently to conventional physical therapy methods.

How does Shockwave therapy work?

During treatment, the device generates controlled shockwaves that travel through the tissue to the painful area. These waves stimulate regeneration and help the body activate its natural recovery processes.

The effects of treatment may include:

  • reducing pain and inflammation
  • stimulating tendon and muscle regeneration
  • improving circulation in the treated area
  • breaking down calcifications in tendons
  • improving joint mobility

The treatment is brief, non-invasive and in most cases does not require a recovery period after the procedure.

When is Shockwave therapy recommended?

Shockwave therapy is most commonly used for chronic pain and problems involving tendons and muscle attachment sites, especially when symptoms persist or do not respond sufficiently to conventional physical therapy.

It is commonly used for heel pain, plantar fasciitis, shoulder calcifications, tennis elbow, Achilles tendon pain, jumper's knee and chronic tendon or muscle pain.

Timely use of this therapy may speed up recovery, reduce pain and support a quicker return to daily activities, work or sport.
